1.8 million SharkNinja pressure cookers recalled due to reports of burn incidents.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of nearly two million Ninja Foodi Multi-Function Pressure Cookers following multiple reports of burn injuries. This recall affects over 1.85 million units sold in the United States and approximately 184,240 sold in Canada. The decision to recall these products comes in light of more than 50 reports of second- or third-degree burns, highlighting significant safety concerns associated with the device.

The recalled models are part of the OP300 series, which not only serves as a pressure cooker but also functions as an air fryer. Issues identified with these devices include lids that can inadvertently loosen, allowing hot steam and contents to escape, posing a serious risk of burn injuries. Consumers have reported instances where the pressure cooker could be opened while in use, resulting in potentially hazardous situations.

In addition to the recall notice, it has been disclosed that over two dozen lawsuits have been filed against SharkNinja, the company headquartered in Needham, Massachusetts, regarding malfunctions and the subsequent injuries linked to their product. The reported model numbers subject to the recall include OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO, and OP350CO. Consumers are advised to locate the model number printed on a label on the side of the product for identification purposes.

Customers are urged to immediately cease using the pressure cooker function of the appliance and to contact SharkNinja for a replacement lid. Fortunately, the air frying and other functionalities of the product remain safe to use, pending the receipt of a new lid.
