16-year-old arrested for gang beating linked to fatal shooting of Queens teenager.

A 16-year-old male has been apprehended for his role in a gang-related incident that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Jaden Pierre, who was fatally shot following an alleged assault at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens. The arrest comes in the wake of increased attention surrounding gang violence in New York City. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating that the young suspect had surrendered to authorities.

The teenager has been formally charged with attempted gang assault and assault in connection with the events leading up to the shooting incident that occurred on April 16. During a court appearance at Queens Supreme Criminal Court, he pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody with bail set at million.

The incident unfolded during a water balloon fight organized by Pierre through social media. According to reports, an associate of Zahir Davis, an 18-year-old suspected gunman affiliated with the BG4 gang, recognized Pierre from a previous confrontation. This recognition led to a group of boys, including Davis and the unnamed 16-year-old suspect, targeting Pierre, who was ultimately cornered against a low park fence. The assault was captured on video, showing multiple assailants delivering punches and kicks while bystanders recorded the event.
