Husband arrested in connection with shooting death of East Germantown spa co-owner.
Philadelphia authorities announced the arrests related to two domestic homicides, including the tragic death of 48-year-old Rashida Irvin, co-owner of a local spa. The incident culminated in the arrest of her husband, Kyle Irvin, who surrendered to law enforcement shortly after midnight and is now facing murder charges alongside other related offenses.
Rashida and Kyle Irvin were well-known figures in their community, jointly operating Mister Relaxation Men’s Spa & Lounge, located at 6325 Germantown Avenue. The couple gained visibility through various media appearances, including features on “Localish,” which airs on ABC platforms, and a live segment on Fox 29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” earlier this year. The spa, which caters exclusively to male clients, has developed a local following, and the couple’s entrepreneurial spirit was celebrated in their appearances.
The tragic incident occurred on August 11 at approximately 6:35 p.m., when police were alerted about potential gunshots emanating from the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Rashida Irvin’s body in a bathroom. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The emotional aftermath of this incident resonated deeply within the community. Rashida Irvin’s legacy has been honored by local influencers, including WDAS radio personality Patty Jackson, who highlighted the case on social media. Jackson expressed her grief over the loss, revealing that she had intended to meet with Rashida in September to discuss promotional efforts for the spa. A family representative requested that she be remembered by her maiden name, Rashida Smith.
In another domestic-related homicide, police announced the arrest of 24-year-old Kenneth Warren in the death of 42-year-old Direll Skipworth. This incident occurred during a domestic altercation on Sunday night in North Philadelphia. Warren has now been charged with murder and related offenses.
On the night of the shooting, reported shortly before 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1500 block of North Gratz Street, where they found Skipworth suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was swiftly transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Preliminary investigations indicate that the conflict arose from an ongoing dispute between Skipworth and a woman involved in the incident, at which point her son intervened, resulting in the violence that ensued.
Media News Source reports that both cases highlight the ongoing issue of domestic violence in urban areas, underscoring the need for increased community support and intervention efforts.
