A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Bronx father, Kelvin Mosquea, near his home in the Soundview neighborhood. The incident occurred on August 26, 2025, shortly after 1:00 p.m., outside the victim’s New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) apartment building.

According to authorities, Mosquea, a 28-year-old construction company supervisor, was engaged in an altercation with two individuals when he was shot in the torso near the intersection of Croes Avenue and Seward Avenue. Following the shooting, the assailants reportedly searched through his belongings before fleeing the scene. One shell casing and a bullet were discovered by investigators at the crime scene. Despite prompt medical attention, Mosquea was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center shortly after arrival.

The tragic event is part of a concerning surge in gun violence within the Bronx. Over a two-week period, eight individuals lost their lives to gunfire, prompting Mayor Eric Adams to respond by pledging to deploy an additional 1,000 police officers across the borough.
