Burning Man attendee injured after being run over by Tesla Cybertruck art car.
A Minneapolis resident tragically experienced a life-altering incident during the recent Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Reports indicate that James “JP” Patrick sustained severe injuries when he was struck by a Cybertruck, a vehicle designated as an “art car,” while he was meditating. The incident occurred over the weekend, shocking his family who were present at the festival.
Jade Patrick, JP’s wife, shared that the accident inflicted significant damage to her husband’s feet, leaving bones and tendons visible. She noted that the outcome could have been far worse, stating that just a slight shift in the vehicle’s trajectory could have resulted in even more catastrophic injuries. The couple, along with their 13-year-old twin sons, were near the scene when the accident occurred, highlighting the unpredictability and potential dangers present at such large gatherings.
Following the incident, JP was airlifted to a medical facility in Reno, where he underwent surgery. His recovery is expected to be lengthy, with an estimated 50,000 dollars in medical expenses anticipated as a result of the injuries sustained. In a show of community support, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist with the medical costs and exceeded its initial goal of 60,000 dollars within a short period.
Meanwhile, reports from the festival indicate that incidents beyond JP’s accident unfolded. Authorities have since publicly identified a 37-year-old attendee, Vadim Kruglov, who was discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances. His death is currently under investigation as a homicide by law enforcement officials in Pershing County. Additionally, a California man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at the event. Other arrests included a previously convicted felon who was found with firearms and large quantities of illegal substances.
The festival, which attracts approximately 70,000 participants annually, has become notorious for its vibrant, yet sometimes perilous, atmosphere. This year’s event was further marred by a report of another attendee being airlifted to a trauma center due to electrocution during a heavy rainstorm. The health status of that individual has not been disclosed.
Burning Man organizers have not responded to inquiries following these incidents, raising concerns about safety measures at large-scale events. As stories from the festival continue to generate headlines, the personal toll of such events remains a poignant reminder of the risks involved.
