Queens subway stabbing suspect claims he only intended to scare the victim, who is now in critical condition, according to the district attorney.
A recent incident on a New York City subway has drawn significant attention after a 21-year-old suspect, Luis Pallchisaca, was charged with attempted murder following an allegedly unprovoked attack. According to prosecutors, the assault occurred on Sunday night on a 7 train in Queens and left the 25-year-old victim in critical condition, necessitating medical intervention that included the placement of a tube to aid in breathing and swallowing.
The attack reportedly took place around 11:30 PM as the victim entered Pallchisaca’s subway car at the Mets-Willets Point station. Allegations suggest that Pallchisaca approached the victim and slashed his throat before stabbing him multiple times in the back. Following the assault, Pallchisaca fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by law enforcement.
Law enforcement officials apprehended Pallchisaca at his Richmond Hill home on Wednesday. Prior to his arrest, police had released a surveillance image of Pallchisaca, who was described as wearing a black hoodie emblazoned with the word “Champion.” During a police interview, he claimed that he did not intend to inflict harm, stating that he merely tried to scare the victim. He also indicated ignorance regarding the whereabouts of the weapon used during the altercation.
This incident is not Pallchisaca’s first brush with the law; he has been arrested multiple times since August 2025. In one previous incident, he allegedly punched a man and threatened him while wielding a knife. In another case, he was apprehended for having an open container of alcohol on the subway while providing a false name to the authorities and attempting to flee.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Lana Schlesinger ordered Pallchisaca to be held on a million bond during a recent arraignment, with a court appearance set for the following Monday.
