Elijah Roy, a 25-year-old identified as a member of the 5-9 Brims faction of the Bloods gang, has been indicted on federal charges stemming from a gang-related mass shooting at the Taste of the City Lounge in Brooklyn, New York, which resulted in three fatalities on August 17, 2025. U.S. federal prosecutors announced the charges during a press briefing on Wednesday.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of that fateful day when members of the Folk Nation Gangster Disciples were confronted by Roy and his associates. The court has presented video evidence, revealing a harrowing scene in which over 40 shots were reportedly discharged in a mere six seconds, creating chaos as patrons sought safety amidst the gunfire.
Among those killed in the shooting was Marvin St. Louis, 19, a Brims member, who allegedly instigated the violence by displaying gang signs and firing the initial shots. Jamel Childs, 35, a member of the Folk Nation, also lost his life in the shootout. Tragically, Amadou Diallo, a 27-year-old bystander, was also among the deceased, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence.
The charges against Roy include assault in aid of racketeering and being a felon in possession of ammunition, given his prior conviction for weapon possession in 2018, which resulted in more than three years of imprisonment.
