Authorities reported that Lan Huynh Truong, a 44-year-old resident of Selden, was arrested shortly after the incident, which occurred along Boyle Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, Truong is accused of striking a pedestrian, identified as Victoria Hutson, who was walking on the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Following the collision with a 2016 black Toyota Camry, Truong allegedly fled the scene without providing assistance.

Emergency responders transported Hutson to Stony Brook University Hospital, where, unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns over pedestrian safety and the responsibility of drivers on the road.

Truong was apprehended shortly after the crash and is now facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident. He is currently detained at the Suffolk County Police Department’s Sixth Precinct. Truong is scheduled for arraignment at the First District Court in Central Islip later today.

In light of this incident, authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward.
