Investigation underway into Brooklyn super’s death following heart attack and head injuries during altercation.

Authorities are investigating the tragic death of a building superintendent in Brooklyn, who is believed to have suffered a heart attack following an altercation on Wednesday morning. The victim, identified by family members as 41-year-old Burim Havolli, engaged in a heated exchange with an unidentified individual at approximately 8:12 a.m. inside a residential building located at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Glenwood Road in the Midwood neighborhood.

According to police sources, the dispute escalated when Havolli was struck multiple times on the head with a cellphone during a confrontation with the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to steal packages from the building. Eyewitness accounts, including that of a building porter who has worked alongside Havolli for 15 years, describe a physical struggle that began in the lobby and ultimately moved outside the premises. Havolli reportedly managed to subdue his assailant until law enforcement arrived to take the suspect into custody.

Following the incident, Havolli returned to his second-floor apartment to take a shower. It was during this time that he began to vomit and subsequently collapsed. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) rushed to the scene, discovering the victim with significant head injuries. He was then transported to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Relatives of the deceased have mourned his loss, describing Havolli as a dedicated family man, leaving behind a wife and three young children. One family member expressed the devastation felt by those close to him, highlighting his character and contributions to the community.

As authorities continue their investigation, a suspect has been taken into custody; however, no formal charges have been made at this time. In addition, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has recovered a scooter and a black hoodie belonging to the alleged assailant as part of their forensic examination.
