Four teenagers indicted for armed robbery at Long Island apartment complex.
Four teenagers from Long Island have been indicted on multiple charges, including robbery and weapons offenses, in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred last month, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. The incident took place early in October, when the four suspects allegedly contacted a victim through social media, feigning interest in purchasing clothing that had been advertised online.
On October 9, around 5 p.m., 19-year-old Isaac Brutus, from Lindenhurst, and a 17-year-old male from Shirley reportedly met with the victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Middle Island. Shortly thereafter, 18-year-old Aubre Vandunk, of Oceanside, and a 16-year-old male from East Patchogue joined them. During this encounter, the group engaged the victim in conversation regarding the clothing they had pretended to be interested in.
The situation escalated swiftly when Brutus allegedly attempted to steal the victim’s car, leading to resistance from the victim. Following this confrontation, Brutus and Vandunk brandished firearms and engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. Meanwhile, the younger suspects took advantage of the chaos, allegedly stealing approximately ,000 worth of clothing from the victim’s vehicle.
After the robbery, the suspects fled to a nearby friend’s apartment. Law enforcement officials, however, were able to locate them shortly thereafter. A search of the apartment yielded three loaded firearms, ammunition, a BB gun designed to resemble a real firearm, and some of the stolen property.
On November 6, the suspects were arraigned on multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm, and six counts of weapons possession. They are currently being held on a bond of 0,000 and are expected to appear in court again in the coming weeks. If convicted of the most serious charges, each defendant faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, along with five years of post-release supervision.
As the investigation continues, this case highlights ongoing concerns over gun violence and criminal activity among youth in the area. Authorities are urging community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as investigations like this emphasize the importance of safety in local neighborhoods.
