Two individuals fatally shot during a attempted Rolex sale in Germantown, according to police reports.
In a tragic incident on Tuesday night in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, a 30-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were fatally shot during what investigators believe was an attempt to conduct a robbery. The two individuals met to negotiate the sale of a Rolex watch, which had been advertised online, leading to a violent confrontation.
Tyree Ware, the adult involved in the exchange, arranged to sell the luxury timepiece and drove to the 500 block of West Queen Lane. Quaneef Lee, the teenage buyer, arrived at the scene with another male companion. Police reports indicate that during the transaction, Lee and his associate attempted to rob Ware at gunpoint.
According to law enforcement sources, the situation escalated when Ware, in response to the attempted robbery, drew his own firearm. The ensuing chaos led to a shootout between the involved parties. When police responded to the scene, they discovered Ware on the ground next to his silver Nissan Maxima, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. A 9mm handgun was found beside him, indicating that he had been armed during the attempted sale.
Authorities also located Lee on the ground behind the vehicle, having suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. Both individuals were transported to Temple University Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Investigation teams recovered 11 shell casings from the scene and noted that three firearms may have been involved in the shootout. However, only one weapon was recovered by police. The Rolex watch, central to the ill-fated transaction, was later found inside Ware’s vehicle.
As this investigation continues, police are focused on identifying the male companion who accompanied Lee, as he remains a key figure in the events that transpired. The family of the teenage victim declined to comment when approached by the media.
This shooting is particularly notable in the context of Philadelphia’s overall crime trends, as the city is on track to experience the lowest homicide rates in six decades. Despite this encouraging statistic, violence remains a prominent issue, with Lee being one among at least 12 young victims of gun violence in 2023 alone.
The investigation remains active, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward as they seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding this disturbing incident.
