Bucks County man confesses to murdering mother and concealing her body beneath furniture and trash.

A Northampton Township man has pleaded guilty to the murder of his elderly mother, an act that shocked the local community. William Ingram, aged 51, entered a plea for third-degree murder and related offenses on Monday, admitting to the brutal slaying of his 82-year-old mother, Dolores Ingram. Ingram’s actions were compounded by his involvement in significant drug crimes, as he reportedly operated a marijuana and psilocybin mushroom distribution business from their shared condominium.

Under a negotiated plea deal with prosecutors, Ingram avoided trial for first-degree murder, which could have resulted in a life sentence. He faces a stipulated prison term of 26 to 54 years for crimes that include murder and abuse of a corpse. However, the sentencing for his drug-related offenses will be determined at a future hearing, to be presided over by Judge Stephen Corr in February.

Ingram’s attorney highlighted his client’s struggle with schizoaffective disorder, which is currently being managed through medication during his incarceration. During the plea hearing, he acknowledged his mother’s murder but appeared inconsistent in recounting specific details of the incident.

Investigators revealed a gruesome crime scene following Ingram’s violent act, with evidence of a brutal assault visible throughout the home. Blood was found spattered across the living room, and Ingram reportedly concealed his mother’s body beneath a pile of furniture and other debris, which included a shattered aquarium that once housed his pet lizards. Notably, police discovered approximately ,000 along with six pounds of marijuana and packaged psilocybin mushrooms among the items covering the victim.

Ingram’s attempt to evade capture was equally alarming. After the crime, he reportedly stole his mother’s Honda Civic and fled to Washington, D.C., approximately four hours away. In an encounter shortly thereafter, police found him behaving erratically. He allegedly approached a patrol car while nude, used a skateboard to smash its window, and confronted the officer. Following a brief foot chase, he was apprehended half a mile away.

During his police interrogation, Ingram admitted to the murder, suggesting that the altercation began when his mother struck him. He described the chaotic aftermath, claiming ignorance about the specifics of the scene, which he characterized as a chaotic mess. This case continues to unfold as authorities prepare for Ingram’s sentencing in the coming months.
