This decision was disclosed in a statement released on Tuesday, revealing that some of the Amazon Fresh stores will be converted into Whole Foods Markets.

The company expressed that while there have been encouraging signals from the performance of its Amazon-branded grocery outlets, a fully distinctive customer experience has yet to be achieved, coupled with the right economic model for large-scale expansion. The announcement did not specify which Amazon Fresh locations would transition to Whole Foods, and inquiries regarding potential conversions of specific Philadelphia-area sites went unanswered by company representatives.

Amazon Fresh operates stores in areas such as Broomall, Bensalem, Langhorne, Northern Liberties, Warrington, and Willow Grove, with the recently opened Northern Liberties store having faced several years of construction delays.
