Police K-9 unit assists in drug bust, seizing 20 pounds of ketamine and 0,000 in cash in Orange County.

Three men were apprehended last week in Costa Mesa as part of a narcotics investigation that led to the discovery of 20 pounds of ketamine and approximately 0,000 in cash, according to law enforcement officials. The arrests, which occurred on March 6, were the result of a collaborative effort involving the Costa Mesa Police Department, officers from the Anaheim Police Department, and agents from Homeland Security Investigations.

The operation unfolded near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Wilson Street, where detectives were conducting surveillance as part of their ongoing investigation into drug-related activities. As officers approached a suspect vehicle, it was reported that the driver intentionally collided with a police vehicle in an apparent attempt to evade capture. Following the collision, the driver tried to flee the scene on foot but was swiftly apprehended by the responding officers.

Subsequently, two additional male suspects were detained from a second vehicle that was linked to the investigation. Upon their arrest, law enforcement officials conducted a search that yielded a substantial amount of ketamine, a powerful anesthetic often misused for its psychoactive properties. The cash seizure further underscored the operation’s significance in curbing illicit drug trafficking in the region.

The police identified a K-9 unit member named Aran as playing a crucial role in the investigation. Aran, trained to detect narcotics, was instrumental in the identification of the drugs involved. Law enforcement officials have commended the K-9 unit’s effectiveness, highlighting its importance in successful drug detection operations.

The arrests mark a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in Costa Mesa and surrounding areas. Authorities have stated that narcotics investigations will continue to be a top priority as they work to disrupt the distribution networks that contribute to substance abuse problems within the community.

This latest incident reflects an increasing focus on collaborative policing efforts among multiple agencies, aimed at addressing the complex challenges posed by drug trafficking. As law enforcement continues to deploy both investigative resources and technology, community vigilance and engagement remain crucial in the fight against illegal drugs. The Costa Mesa Police Department and its partners emphasize their commitment to public safety, aiming to safeguard the community from the pervasive impacts of drug-related crime.
