FBI probes Offset shooting incident occurring on federal Seminole land.

The recent shooting incident involving rapper Offset is under federal investigation by the FBI, as updated information emerges from the Miami division of the agency. The shooting occurred on April 6, 2026, at approximately 7:24 PM, near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was transported to a local hospital, where a representative later confirmed that he was in stable condition and being closely monitored.

This investigation highlights the complexities of crimes occurring on tribal lands. The FBI emphasized that incidents occurring on Indian land fall under federal jurisdiction, thus necessitating their involvement. Authorities are currently seeking assistance from the public, urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Details surrounding the event reveal that a group assaulted Offset before one of the assailants brandished a handgun and fired a single shot, injuring him. Following the gunfire, the assailants allegedly attempted to steal Offset’s watch, although that item was ultimately not taken. In an effort to apprehend the suspects, the FBI released surveillance images of the individuals involved, as well as the vehicles used in their escape—a matte-gray Chevrolet Tahoe and a black Chevrolet Suburban, which fled in separate directions towards Hollywood and Miami.

Controversy surrounding the incident also involved fellow rapper Lil Tjay, who has denied any involvement in the shooting but was taken into custody on the night of the incident for disorderly conduct related to a preceding altercation. An attorney representing Lil Tjay has stated that he has not been charged in connection with the shooting itself. Another individual was also arrested that night, but as of the last update, charges had not been filed.

Lil Tjay was released from Broward County Jail on a 0 bond and subsequently denied shooting Offset, labeling him a “rat.” The exchange between the two rappers also involved Offset publicly responding to criticisms from Lil Tjay, showcasing the ongoing tension between the artists.

Offset, who has faced personal challenges following the tragic loss of his cousin and fellow Migos member Takeoff in a separate shooting incident in 2022, made a public appearance at the University of Arkansas’ Rowfest shortly after the incident, performing on stage in a wheelchair but ultimately finishing his set on his feet.

The FBI continues to investigate the case and is urging anyone with relevant information to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI or through their official website.

This incident not only underscores the dangers faced by public figures but also raises significant concerns regarding safety and security in entertainment venues. As the investigation progresses, more information is expected to emerge in the coming days.
