Suspect Arrested for Raping 50-Year-Old Woman in Bronx Building

A suspect linked to the rape of a 50-year-old woman in a Bronx apartment building has been apprehended in Brooklyn following a public identification effort by law enforcement. Isaiah Jones, also 50 years old, was taken into custody after a transit officer, responding to a citizen tip, recognized him from a mugshot released by the New York Police Department during a manhunt that began shortly after the April 17 incident.

The arrest occurred on a downtown Brooklyn street, where Jones was approached by the officer after an individual alerted them to his presence. Following the identification, he was transported back to the Bronx, where he faces multiple charges, including rape, robbery, sexually-motivated robbery, and sexual abuse. On Saturday, his arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was forthcoming.

According to police reports, the assault took place around 7 p.m. near the intersection of West 164th Street and Ogden Avenue in the Highbridge neighborhood. The suspect allegedly approached the victim inside the building, assaulted her, and subsequently stole her gold chain and cross pendant, in addition to robbing her of .

Initially, law enforcement released a composite sketch to aid in the search for the assailant, but subsequently issued Jones’ mugshot, which prompted the eventual recognition that led to his arrest. Authorities confirmed that Jones resides in downtown Brooklyn, close to the location where he was apprehended.
