Laguna Niguel man sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in fentanyl-related fatalities.

A 21-year-old man from Laguna Niguel, California, has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison following his conviction on multiple counts related to the distribution of fentanyl that resulted in the deaths of two individuals. This verdict emphasizes the ongoing crisis surrounding the opioid epidemic and the devastating impact of fentanyl trafficking.

Michel Joseph Abdallah entered a guilty plea on November 12 to two counts of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death, along with charges of possession with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. According to federal prosecutors, Abdallah was involved in the tragic events surrounding the deaths of two young victims connected to his drug sales.

One victim, who was reportedly seeking help for substance use at a rehabilitation facility in Mission Viejo, had texted Abdallah for fentanyl. Abdallah complied with the request, throwing the pills over a fence in exchange for . Tragically, the following day, the victim was discovered deceased in his bed.

In a separate incident in May 2023, Abdallah sold counterfeit pills containing fentanyl to a teenage girl who was later found dead by her mother on May 15. An investigation conducted in June 2023 at Abdallah’s home and vehicle revealed a substantial cache of drugs, including thousands of fentanyl pills and hundreds of grams of powdered fentanyl, along with two firearms.
