Three individuals arrested for stabbing a 17-year-old boy during an altercation inside a Chipotle in Midtown.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy during a violent altercation at a Chipotle restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. The incident, which occurred on June 15, 2026, around 2:40 p.m., has drawn significant attention due to the severity of the attack and the circumstances surrounding it.

The suspects—identified as Justin Mercado, 19, Richard Benitez, 20, and Andrew Dawson, 20—have been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police reports indicate that the group assaulted the teenage victim and his friends as part of a retaliation related to a prior dispute. The attack left the teen with a stab wound to the torso, and he was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to recover.

Witnesses inside the fast-casual dining establishment reported chaos as the rival group burst in and initiated the assault. A worker at the Chipotle, located on Eighth Avenue near East 52nd Street, described the situation as a “real mess,” noting that more than a dozen teenagers were involved in the brawl. The worker recounted how the assailants jumped on tables and caused widespread panic among patrons.

Law enforcement authorities apprehended Mercado, Benitez, and Dawson shortly after the attack. While the suspects admitted to their participation in the ambush, none of them claimed responsibility for the actual stabbing, according to police sources.

None of the suspects reside in the Midtown area where the incident took place. Mercado is reported to live in East Harlem, Dawson in the East Village, and Benitez in the Concourse section of the Bronx. The victim, a local high school student known to frequent the Chipotle, was with friends when the rival group entered and attacked.

The Chipotle restaurant was temporarily closed for approximately 30 minutes to allow for an investigation by the New York Police Department. Following the investigation, the restaurant resumed its usual operations. As public safety remains a paramount concern in urban environments, this incident highlights ongoing issues related to youth violence and gang-related conflicts in city settings.

Media News Source urges those affected by violence to seek appropriate support services and engage in community efforts aimed at reducing conflict and promoting safety.
