Pennsylvania booth receives one of 10 ‘Best of Show’ awards at the Great American State Fair.

Pennsylvania’s pavilion at the Great American State Fair, which concluded recently in Washington, D.C., received a prestigious designation as one of the ten “Best in Show” winners. This accolade was officially announced Saturday following the event, which took place over 16 days beginning on June 25 and was initiated by President Donald Trump.

In a collaborative statement, U.S. Senators John Fetterman and Dave McCormick praised the booth for showcasing Pennsylvania’s significant contributions to America’s narrative. They highlighted key historical moments associated with the Commonwealth, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence and vital engagements at Valley Forge and Gettysburg. Additionally, they underscored Pennsylvania’s ongoing leadership in various sectors, such as agriculture, manufacturing, energy, innovation, and small business.

Originally, Governor Josh Shapiro opted out of participating in the fair due to challenges in securing sponsorship from a Pennsylvania business. This decision was not isolated, as numerous Democratic governors chose to forgo the event. In response, Senators Fetterman and McCormick took the initiative to sponsor the booth, securing private funding from a coalition of 55 organizations. Prominent contributors included the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, ensuring that no taxpayer dollars were utilized for the pavilion’s expenses.

The Pennsylvania booth featured a diverse display, including unique items such as a variety of potato chips donated by local snack food manufacturers, a replica of the Liberty Bell, and even a Christmas tree grown in the state. Despite the initial hurdles faced by Pennsylvania’s participation, the pavilion emerged as a vibrant representation of the state’s rich heritage and dynamic community.

Senator Fetterman emphasized the vital role of Pennsylvania’s residents in making the state remarkable, reflecting on their contributions across sectors. He expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort that made the pavilion a resounding success. Meanwhile, Senator McCormick characterized the booth as a tribute to Pennsylvania’s profound historical legacy, recognizing the state’s impact on the nation over the past 250 years.

The recognition received by Pennsylvania at the Great American State Fair not only highlights the state’s historical significance but also celebrates its contemporary achievements across various industries. As such, it serves as a testament to the Commonwealth’s enduring spirit and vitality.
