A 23-year-old man from Santa Ana is facing serious criminal charges in connection with the alleged shooting of his mother, a case that has drawn significant attention due to its tragic nature. Emmanuel Wesley has been charged with murder, accompanied by an enhancement for the use of a firearm. Wesley, who entered a not guilty plea in court on Thursday, is implicated in the death of his mother, 61-year-old Theresa Jones. She was reported missing on July 7 when she failed to pick up her grandchild and did not respond to calls from family and friends. Tragically, on July 11, her body was discovered in the passenger seat of her vehicle parked at a church lot in Fullerton, only a short distance from the police station. Preliminary examinations indicated that she suffered from two gunshot wounds to the back.
Crucial evidence in this case includes surveillance footage from the Fullerton Police Department, which captured Jones arriving at the location around 2:45 p.m. on the Fourth of July. The video recorded her slumping over in the car, after which Wesley exited the rear seat and allegedly moved her to the front passenger seat.
