The incident occurred on May 1 along U.S. Route 20, just approximately 15 miles west of the entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Police indicated that the fatal crash was instigated by a Dodge Ram pickup truck that unexpectedly crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Mercedes passenger van.

The ill-fated van was transporting 12 tourists from China, in addition to one from Italy, who were en route to explore the renowned Yellowstone National Park. Law enforcement has revealed the identities of the deceased victims, which include five Chinese nationals, one Italian national, and the pickup truck driver, identified as 25-year-old Isaiah Moreno, a resident of Texas.

As investigations continue, officials are scrutinizing the circumstances that led to the pickup truck veering into the wrong lane.
