Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the victim lying unresponsive in the customer takeout area of the mini-market. Described by employees as a regular patron, he was quickly transported to Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:59 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small reported that the police found one spent shell casing next to the body inside the store, indicating the proximity of the shooting, while at least 25 additional shell casings were located outside on the sidewalk and along Summerdale Avenue.
The violent altercation also posed a significant risk to nearby residents; stray bullets were reported to have struck two separate second-floor windows of adjacent homes.
