Russian drone and missile strikes across Ukraine resulted in the tragic loss of at least eight civilian lives overnight, as reported by officials on Thursday. The assault is part of Moscow’s ongoing military campaign against Ukraine, which has persisted for four and a half years. This escalation comes during a time when global leaders are pressing for diplomatic solutions to the conflict at the United Nations General Assembly.
In Kharkiv, situated in northeastern Ukraine, six agricultural workers were killed by the bombardment while an additional 12 people suffered injuries, according to Interior Minister Ihor Vyhivskyi. Meanwhile, in the capital city of Kyiv, attacks claimed the lives of a man and a woman. The southern port city of Odesa also experienced significant bombardments, contributing to the overall devastation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an urgent appeal at the United Nations, imploring member countries to impose stringent sanctions and trade restrictions aimed at depriving Russia of the financial resources necessary for sustaining its military efforts.
