New Images Released in Investigation of Girl Found in Channel in Carson

A tragic discovery unfolded in Carson, California, where authorities found the body of a young girl in the Dominguez Channel on September 1, 2023. The body was located near the Victoria Golf Course around noon, prompting an immediate investigation by local law enforcement agencies.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has estimated that the girl was between 8 and 11 years old at the time of her death. While the race and precise age of the girl remain undetermined, forensic examinations revealed that she stood between 4 feet 4 inches and 4 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 60 and 85 pounds. The child had thick, slightly wavy dark brown or black hair, accompanied by brown eyes. Given the state of severe decomposition, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to the girl, a second body—a man believed to be in his 50s or 60s—was discovered the following day, also in the Dominguez Channel. Deputies were alerted to the presence of the unresponsive individual by a worker at a nearby refinery, with the man found around 8 a.m. in the 2100 block of East Sepulveda Boulevard. The medical examination indicated that the man had likely passed away within 24 hours of being found, but no obvious signs of trauma or foul play were present. The identity of the man has yet to be disclosed.

Authorities have clarified that no connection has been established between the two incidents, according to Lieutenant Daniel Vizcarra of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. Investigators have indicated that they are conducting separate inquiries into each case. As part of the investigation, detectives have reviewed local missing persons reports and canvassed the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses or surveillance footage that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The girl was found wearing black pin-striped pants in size 7Y, a size 8 pajama top featuring the “Jurassic World” theme, and a size 10 red Christmas sweater from Shein. A witness who frequented the golf course reported seeing the girl floating downstream, which led to the emergency services being notified.
