Bronx man fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Mercedes-Benz shortly after leaving his home.
A tragic incident occurred in the Bronx early Saturday morning when a hit-and-run driver in a black Mercedes-Benz struck and fatally injured a 43-year-old man just steps from his home. The victim, identified as Kelvin Mitchell, was reportedly in the crosswalk on Webster Avenue, near East 168th Street in Morrisania, when the vehicle collided with him around 12:45 a.m.
According to police reports, the driver was traveling southbound on Webster Avenue when the collision occurred. After hitting Mitchell, the driver failed to stop and fled the scene without rendering aid. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) swiftly transported Mitchell to Lincoln Hospital; unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Mitchell resided in the nearby Webster Houses, a housing development situated just around the corner from where the incident took place.
