The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

Approximately 106 firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were dispatched to combat the blaze, which originated on the building’s third floor. The fire was declared under control by approximately 7:39 a.m., highlighting the efficiency of the responding units in managing a potentially more catastrophic situation.

In total, eight individuals were reported injured in the incident. Among them, five civilians and one firefighter were transported to Harlem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was noted that two additional civilians, who experienced minor injuries, opted to refuse medical attention at the scene. Reports indicate that residents were compelled to evacuate the building using an exterior fire escape to ensure their safety.

In response to the fire’s impact on local families, the American Red Cross has registered seven households for emergency assistance, providing crucial support that includes temporary lodging and financial aid. This assistance extends to a total of 30 individuals, comprised of 19 adults and 11 children who have been displaced by the fire.
