Hozier, Halsey, Santigold, and The Tisburys to perform in Philadelphia this week.
This week in Philadelphia’s music scene promises a diverse lineup of events including major concerts in Camden, an album release party for an emerging band in Center City, and free performances at various festivals.
Ortlieb’s in Northern Liberties will host Lil Seabird on Thursday. The Vermont-based singer-songwriter’s latest project, Trash Mountain, showcases a unique blend of folk and country, infused with a raw and unrefined sound. Supporting acts include Mary St. Mary and Shannen Moser, a noted songwriter from South Philadelphia.
The marquee concert series at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden kicks off on Friday with country artist Luke Bryan. Known for his engaging presence on television’s American Idol, Bryan’s performance will feature songs from his nearly two-decade career. He has been honored with the CMA Entertainer of the Year award on five occasions.
On Saturday, Halsey, the acclaimed pop star from New Jersey, takes the stage as part of her For My Last Trick tour. This event celebrates her forthcoming genre-blending album, The Great Impersonator, which includes collaborations with indie rock influences. Opening for Halsey will be Hope Tala.
The series of performances continues with Irish singer-songwriter Hozier on Tuesday. Renowned for his breakout hit “Take Me to Church,” Hozier is currently gaining acclaim for his latest single “Too Sweet.” Emerging indie-pop artist Gigi Perez will open for Hozier.
On Friday, Craig Finn, frontman of the influential band The Hold Steady, will appear at World Cafe Live for their Free at Noon concert. Finn’s solo work, particularly his new album Always Been, has garnered significant praise, highlighting his storytelling abilities.
The weekend also features an array of performances in Atlantic City, with Balance and Composure promoting their recent album With You in Spirit at the Anchor Rock Club. Renowned vocalist Ledisi will perform at Caesars, accompanied by Marsha Ambrosius, while R&B artist Khalid is set to take the stage at Hard Rock Live as part of the North 2 Shore Festival.
The Tisburys will be celebrating the release of their album A Still Life Revisited at MilkBoy Philly on Saturday. This album, recorded at Dr. Dog’s studio, showcases the band’s musical evolution and has already earned accolades from WXPN-FM as a “June Artist to Watch.”
The Wayne Music Festival on Saturday will feature a variety of acts, including the nostalgic Ocean Blue, along with the blues-infused Black Joe Lewis and the rising star Karina Rykman.
The Odunde Festival on Sunday will host hip-hop icons Doug E. Fresh and Rakim, paying homage to the genre’s rich history.
In addition, octogenarian vocalist Eddie Levert, known for his work with the O’Jays, will perform at City Winery, while Perfume Genius and Santigold are set for shows at Union Transfer and the TLA, respectively, offering fans a week filled with must-see musical experiences.
