Queens teacher charged with rape for allegedly luring teen through online app, according to prosecutors.
A middle school teacher from Queens has been arrested and charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The accused, identified as David Ospino, 36, reportedly utilized an online communication platform to entice the minor into a meeting that culminated in sexual intercourse. This incident occurred on January 11, as outlined by prosecutors during his arraignment at Queens Criminal Court.
According to the prosecution, Ospino engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the victim via messaging services, ultimately directing her to a prearranged location for the meeting. An assistant district attorney presented evidence, stating that there were numerous sexually explicit messages exchanged between Ospino and the victim before the encounter.
Ospino is employed at Intermediate School 204 Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School, located in Long Island City, Queens. Sources have indicated that the victim was not a student at the school where he teaches. He is facing grave charges that include rape and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted of the rape charge, Ospino could be sentenced to as much as seven years in prison.
