GirlsDoPorn founder pleads guilty to federal charges of sex trafficking.
Michael Pratt, the founder of the controversial adult entertainment website GirlsDoPorn, has pleaded guilty to federal sex trafficking charges, marking a significant development in a case that has drawn widespread attention due to its disturbing nature. Pratt was previously listed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives as authorities sought to apprehend him for his actions that exploited vulnerable young women.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Pratt utilized tactics of force, fraud, and coercion to convince hundreds of young women, including minors, to engage in sexual acts on camera. Many of these individuals were misled into believing they were auditioning for legitimate modeling opportunities, only to discover upon arrival that they would be participating in pornographic films. Pratt assured these women that their performances would not be publicly accessible online; however, the footage was instead distributed on the San Diego-based GirlsDoPorn and its affiliated site, GirlsDoToys. Highlight clips were even disseminated on popular adult platforms like Pornhub to draw in viewers and increase traffic.
The intimidation tactics employed by Pratt and his associates were particularly alarming. According to the Department of Justice, they threatened to cancel flights home, initiate lawsuits, and release footage of women who expressed hesitation or sought to withdraw from the filming process. In one instance, Pratt misled an 18-year-old who had responded to a Craigslist advertisement, falsely assuring her that her videos would only be shared with private clients in Australia. Prosecutors revealed that he pressured her into signing a contract that she never received a copy of. Victims of Pratt’s scheme reported losing their jobs and even facing familial disownment as a consequence of the explicit material they were tricked into producing.
GirlsDoPorn, operational from 2012 until its shutdown in 2019, reportedly generated millions of views and significant revenue during its existence. In 2019, Pratt was charged with 19 felonies that included the production of child pornography and sex trafficking related to a minor, among other charges. He fled the United States that same year, spending time in Spain before being arrested in 2022. After extradition back to the U.S. in 2024, Pratt had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
With his recent change of plea, Pratt is scheduled for sentencing in September, as the judicial system prepares to address the repercussions of his extensive abuses. The case continues to highlight the critical issues surrounding consent and the exploitation of young women in the adult entertainment industry.
