Authorities report that James Quininchetta, a resident of Ridge, was taken into custody early Saturday morning and charged with second-degree murder, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Suffolk County Police.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Rebecca Roth, was found by her mother inside a Hyundai Elantra located in the parking lot of the Tall Oaks apartment complex on Long Tree Lane. According to police, Roth’s mother alerted emergency services shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Friday, prompting a swift response from Homicide Squad detectives who arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, investigators discovered Roth suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
