Roseanne Barr expresses gratitude after tabloid discovers her biological daughter, whom she placed for adoption.

Roseanne Barr recently expressed her gratitude towards the National Enquirer for reconnecting her with the daughter she placed for adoption in 1971. The 72-year-old comedian made these remarks during the promotion of her new documentary, “Roseanne is America.” In a surprising turn of events, Barr alleged that the National Enquirer successfully located her daughter, Brandi Brown, through questionable means, including purportedly bribing an employee at the Colorado records department.

Barr recounted that she was an unmarried 18-year-old when she gave birth to Brown. She indicated that her decision to give the child up for adoption stemmed from her mother’s fear of societal shame. In reflecting on this difficult chapter of her life, Barr noted her intention to reunite with her daughter upon reaching adulthood, stating that she had confidence in her future fame, which she believed would make personal identification easily attainable.

In her documentary, Barr mentioned that she had foreseen a future reunion and shared this hope with her daughter, emphasizing her belief that her rise to fame through the sitcom “Roseanne,” which aired from 1988 to 1997 and saw a brief reboot in 2018, would generate a pathway to reconnect. However, Barr also conveyed her initial frustration with the National Enquirer, stating that she had provided information that would have allowed Brown to track her down after reaching the age of 21.

Prior to the tabloid’s revelation, Barr had taken proactive steps to prepare her family for the eventuality of meeting Brown. She disclosed the existence of her eldest child to her three other children a year before the National Enquirer’s scoop, anticipating that Brown might seek her out. In an effort to manage the narrative, Barr hired a private investigator to facilitate the reunion instead of ceding that responsibility to the renowned tabloid.

Over the course of her life, Roseanne Barr has experienced numerous personal changes, including her marriages and motherhood. After placing Brown for adoption, she married Bill Pentland and had three children. Later, her relationship with her third husband, Ben Thomas, resulted in one son born in 1995. Additionally, Barr was married to comedian Tom Arnold from 1990 to 1994, though they did not have children together. As Barr continues to navigate her public and personal life, the reunion with her daughter marks a significant moment in her complex narrative.
