Authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands are currently investigating a suspected homicide following the discovery of an unidentified body during the search for Brian Tarrence, a 51-year-old New York City resident who went missing in late June. The body was found on Saturday, July 1, at approximately 9:05 a.m. in the vicinity of Grace Bay, an area popular with tourists.

According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, the remains were “in a state of decomposition,” and as of now, there has been no identification made. Surveillance footage captured Tarrence leaving their Airbnb in Grace Bay around 3:40 a.m., dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, with his wallet and phone in his possession before he vanished without a trace.

The private investigator, Carl DeFazio, noted the absence of any electronic transactions or significant evidence that could indicate Tarrence’s whereabouts following his departure from the rental. DeFazio, a former NYPD detective, commented on the lack of any indications that could suggest robbery or foul play, stating that he expected to have seen evidence in the form of credit card charges or the discovery of Tarrence’s wallet had there been criminal activity involved.
