According to police reports, the clash began when Haynes allegedly brandished a knife and threatened another individual, 22-year-old Keeshawn Grantnesbitt, during a heated standoff. As the struggle ensued, Haynes lost control of the weapon, which Grantnesbitt subsequently picked up and used to stab Haynes in the abdomen. Emergency medical personnel swiftly transported Haynes to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Both Haynes and Grantnesbitt reside in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, a neighborhood known for its rich cultural history. In the aftermath of the incident, Grantnesbitt was arrested on-site and charged with misdemeanor assault. He underwent a brief arraignment at the Manhattan Criminal Court and was released without bail. This incident marks Grantnesbitt’s first recorded arrest.

Following his discharge from the hospital on Tuesday morning, Haynes was also charged. During his arraignment, the presiding judge opted to release him without bail as well, suggesting that he enroll in an alternative to incarceration program.
