Bancroft in South Jersey appoints Gregory Passanante as new CEO for IDD services.

Bancroft, a nonprofit organization based in South Jersey dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has announced the appointment of Gregory Passanante as its new president and chief executive officer. Passanante’s tenure is set to commence on January 7, 2024, marking him as the 10th leader in the organization’s distinguished 143-year history.

Passanante comes to Bancroft with a robust background in healthcare administration. Most recently, he has served as the northeast market administrator for Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia since 2023. Prior to this role, he held the position of chief nursing officer at Wills Eye Hospital, where he was instrumental in enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. With his extensive experience in management and a solid track record in healthcare settings, Passanante is expected to bring valuable insights and strategies to the organization.

Taking the helm of Bancroft, which is based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, comes at a time when the organization is in a notably strong financial position. This contrasts sharply with the situation in 2004, when Toni Pergolin joined the organization as chief financial officer. During that period, Bancroft faced significant financial challenges, struggling to meet operational expenses and ensure payroll. Pergolin’s leadership over the years has catalyzed a remarkable turnaround; the organization is now reporting stable financial health.

As per the latest audited financial statements, Bancroft recorded an operating income of million on total revenue of 4 million in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. The organization currently serves 1,642 clients and employs 2,853 full-time staff members. This growth and financial stability position Bancroft favorably as it looks to expand its services and improve the quality of life for those it serves under Passanante’s guidance.

According to industry experts, the transition in leadership comes at a pivotal moment for Bancroft, as the organization navigates the evolving landscape of care for individuals with disabilities. Stakeholders within the nonprofit sector are optimistic that Passanante will continue to advance the mission of Bancroft while maintaining its commitment to quality service delivery.
