Broadway reunion of Dawson’s Creek sells out tickets in just 12 minutes.

The cast of the iconic television series “Dawson’s Creek” will reunite for a one-night-only charity event at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theatre on September 22, marking over two decades since the show concluded in 2003. The live reading event will feature the original stars performing the series’ premiere episode, with proceeds supporting actor James Van Der Beek as he battles stage 3 colorectal cancer, and benefiting the nonprofit organization F Cancer.

Anticipation for the event has been immense, with tickets priced between 9 to ,500 reportedly selling out within a mere 12 minutes after their release on Friday morning. This quick sell-out illustrates the enduring popularity of the show, which originally aired for six seasons and significantly shaped the teen drama landscape of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The cast set to take the stage includes Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, Busy Philipps, and Van Der Beek himself. This event will mark their first public gathering as a collective cast since the show aired its final episode.

“Dawson’s Creek,” centered around the lives of a group of friends navigating adolescence in a fictional Massachusetts town, launched the careers of many of its young actors, establishing them as notable figures in Hollywood. Philipps, Smith, and Monroe, while not part of the original pilot, will participate in the reading by taking on various roles during this special event. Kevin Williamson, the creator of the series, is also involved as a producer, expressing his enthusiasm for the reunion and its charitable purpose.

Van Der Beek, who portrayed the titular character Dawson Leery, publicly shared his colorectal cancer diagnosis in November 2024, revealing that he has been privately managing this health crisis. Despite the challenges he faces, he has conveyed a sense of optimism regarding his condition.

Williams, a celebrated actress with five Oscar nominations to her name, is married to Tony Award-winning director Thomas Kail, who is recognized for his work on the musical “Hamilton.” The reunion event will strategically take place on a Monday, a day when the regular production of “Hamilton” is not scheduled.

The cast shared their desire to support their friend Van Der Beek and convey a message of solidarity and love. Their connection, formed years ago while filming in Capeside, remains strong, reinforcing the sense of community among the cast members.

As the event date approaches, excitement continues to build among fans of the series, who eagerly resonate with the themes of friendship and resilience showcased both on and off screen.
