Bronx cab driver stabbed 8 times in road rage incident describes being caught off guard during the attack.
A livery cab driver in the Bronx endured a harrowing attack that left him with eight stab wounds during a road rage incident on November 26, 2025. Osei Kusi, 39, who emigrated from Ghana six years ago to support his family, was reflecting on the traumatic experience from his hospital bed, where he remains in critical condition.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when Kusi was approaching the end of his shift. While navigating through heavy traffic on White Plains Road and Bruckner Boulevard, he encountered another driver whose car was blocking his way. After maneuvering around the obstruction, Kusi and the other driver had not engaged in any verbal exchange. However, upon reaching a red light at White Plains Road and Randall Avenue, the situation escalated dramatically. Investigators revealed that the other driver exited his vehicle, smashed Kusi’s driver-side mirror with a baseball bat, and subsequently assaulted Kusi with a knife.
Kusi described the attack as both shocking and terrifying, stating that the assailant managed to stab him multiple times, with injuries that nearly hit his heart. He recalled yelling for the attacker to stop and expressed his gratitude for surviving the incident, attributing his continued existence to divine intervention.
Footage captured by dash cameras in Kusi’s vehicle documented his desperate pleas, as he shouted, “I don’t want to fight you!” in an attempt to de-escalate the violence. However, as Kusi exited his SUV to inspect the damage to his mirror, the assailant swung the bat at him. Kusi attempted to defend himself but fell to the ground, where he was subsequently stabbed in the torso eight times.
After the aggressive assault, the attacker fled the scene, leaving Kusi bleeding profusely. In a remarkable display of resilience, Kusi managed to reattach his car mirror before collapsing and seeking assistance through a phone call. Witnesses described finding him unconscious, drenched in blood, with his vehicle still running. Emergency responders transported him to Jacobi Medical Center, where he underwent critical surgery to treat his life-threatening injuries.
The alleged assailant, identified as 56-year-old Darin Dominick, turned himself in a week after the attack. He faces charges of attempted murder, assault, and menacing in Bronx Criminal Court and is currently being held on a 0,000 bond at Rikers Island.
Kusi, who drives to support his wife and children back in Ghana, expressed hope for justice, hoping that the assailant would not have the opportunity to threaten anyone else. His story highlights the growing concerns about safety among drivers in urban environments, shedding light on the alarming instances of road rage and violence.
