Brooklyn gang involved in murder and intimidation apprehended after boasting about crimes on social media, according to the District Attorney.

A group of teenage gang members known as Road 2 Riches has been implicated in a series of violent incidents in Brooklyn that left one person dead and several others injured, according to recent announcements from prosecutors. The gang, predominantly operating out of East New York, engaged in multiple shootings from 2023 to 2025, with law enforcement reporting a total of ten different incidents.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez revealed on Thursday that nine alleged members of this gang have been indicted on various charges, including homicides and shootings. The indictment, which encompasses 68 counts, highlights the danger posed by such gang activity in the community. One of the incidents specifically involved the shooting death of Abdoulaye Ba, 24, who was struck in the face during an altercation, as well as the wounding of a 68-year-old woman who was shopping nearby.

Prosecutors noted that members of the Road 2 Riches gang not only participated in these violent acts but also took to social media to boast about their exploits, seeking recognition among their peers for their violent behaviors. This acknowledgment of violence starkly contrasts typical criminal behaviors where perpetrators often strive to remain anonymous after such acts.

In one video captured during the aforementioned incident, Ba was seen approaching a mini-market with his brother, who allegedly is a member of a rival gang. The atmosphere in neighborhoods like East New York has become unnerving, as individuals feel compelled to conceal their identities in public spaces due to the fear of sudden violence.

The DA emphasized the impulsive and reckless nature of the gang members, stating they show little regard for bystanders when they open fire. Gonzalez indicated that gang-related violence has surged and expressed confidence that recent law enforcement actions would mitigate the ongoing issues.

Brooklyn has experienced a concerning trend in gun violence, though Gonzalez pointed out that the number of shootings had dwindled, achieving record lows in the previous year. Moving into 2025, authorities are optimistic that continued gang takedowns will further reduce violence.

With the arrest of the gang members, including some already in custody prior to the indictment, the city aims to create a safer environment. Mayor Eric Adams, who attended the announcement, complimented the proactive actions taken by the District Attorney’s office and called attention to the need for cooperative efforts across different sectors of the criminal justice system to sustain this momentum against crime in Brooklyn.

As of now, two of the indicted individuals remain at large, while the community and law enforcement continue to grapple with the implications of youth gang violence in Brooklyn.
