Bucks County man pleads guilty in federal court to coercing a teenage girl into sending nude images via Snapchat.
In a significant federal court development, a 22-year-old man from Bensalem has pleaded guilty to charges related to child pornography and blackmail. Jonathan Brodecki entered his plea on October 21, 2024, before U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick, acknowledging his involvement in coercing a 13-year-old girl into producing and sending sexually explicit images. The case has drawn considerable attention due to its serious nature and the age of the victim involved.
Brodecki had initially faced charges in a state court, where he was indicted by Bucks County prosecutors in May 2024. He was alleged to have posed as a teenage boy on the social media platform Snapchat, targeting nine minors aged between 12 and 15. Prosecutors claimed that he persuaded these young girls to send him nude photographs and explicit videos. However, just before his preliminary hearing at the district court in Bensalem, Brodecki was taken into federal custody by FBI agents, leading to the subsequent dismissal of the state case against him.
According to federal court documents, Brodecki specifically victimized eight minors, but his guilty plea was limited to the crimes involving only one girl. The girl, who Brodecki contacted online in December 2023, was allegedly manipulated into sharing explicit content after initial refusals. Reports indicate that Brodecki, under the guise of the name “Jack Goodric” and claiming to be 15, created a false sense of familiarity by asserting connections to the girl’s friends.
As the situation escalated, when the girl did not comply with his demands for further explicit content, Brodecki resorted to threats, claiming he could find her home and would harm her. He also threatened to distribute the images to her acquaintances, which heightened the distress and fear experienced by the victim. This led to the girl reporting the threats to local authorities, expressing that she believed Brodecki was a credible threat due to his proximity and their alleged mutual friends. The psychological toll was significant, leading to hospitalization.
Jonathan Brodecki’s sentencing is scheduled for October 21, a date that will determine the repercussions of his actions within the judicial system. The case underscores ongoing concerns regarding online safety for minors and the dangers posed by predatory behavior on social media platforms. As the investigation and legal proceedings continue, it remains crucial for communities to foster vigilance and support for young individuals navigating digital spaces.
