Candy shop owner in Pennsylvania faces accusations of soliciting sex from underage girls.
A Pennsylvania candy shop owner is facing serious allegations of sexual harassment involving two underage employees, raising concerns about child safety in local businesses. Joseph Grossman, 36, operated Poppy’s Peanuts at the Quakertown Farmer’s Market in Bucks County. The investigation began when a 17-year-old girl reported to authorities that Grossman had made inappropriate comments and engaged in unwanted physical contact with her, including touching her legs and back.
The alleged incidents took place over several months and came to light after the victim decided to leave her job. Following her departure, Grossman purportedly reached out to her via social media, offering money and marijuana in exchange for sexual acts. These shocking claims prompted law enforcement’s intervention in June.
Grossman was initially arrested in August and charged with corruption of minors and promoting the prostitution of a minor. After his arrest, a second 17-year-old girl, who had also been an employee at the candy shop, came forward with her own allegations. This second victim described experiencing similar harassment, including inappropriate touching and unsolicited advances involving drugs. After she also quit her job, Grossman allegedly continued to harass her.
During a press conference, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn elaborated on the case. She detailed how this second victim and her mother decided to come forward upon learning of Grossman’s arrest and the prior victim’s experiences. Following this revelation, additional charges pertaining to corruption of minors were filed against Grossman.
As of now, Grossman has been released on ,000 bail, but he is prohibited from contacting any minors. Authorities are actively investigating the situation, expressing concern that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. Schorn emphasized the importance of community awareness, noting that Poppy’s Peanuts is a family-oriented business that employs minors.
