Cescaphe announces its 10th wedding venue, a historic mansion located in Northeast Philadelphia.
Glen Foerd, a historic estate located along the Delaware River in Northeast Philadelphia, is poised to enhance its offerings as a wedding venue in collaboration with Cescaphe, a prominent event and catering company. The partnership, which marks the venue’s transformation into Cescaphe’s tenth location, is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2027 following an extensive and much-anticipated restoration project estimated at .5 million.
Cescaphe officially announced this partnership, emphasizing Glen Foerd’s status as an underappreciated gem in the Philadelphia area. The estate, which occupies an expansive 18 acres, serves not only as a site for weddings but also as a public park. This collaboration with Cescaphe will see the company stepping in as the dedicated caterer for the estate, which has already been hosting various events. Plans include erecting a cathedral-style reception tent on the estate’s picturesque south lawn.
The restoration of Glen Foerd is a significant undertaking aimed at preserving the historic integrity of the 30,000-square-foot mansion, originally built during the Gilded Age. The renovation project will address critical repairs, including fixing deteriorating porch columns, reinforcing windows, doors, stucco, masonry, and roofing, as well as rebuilding the iconic cupola. Funding for this preservation effort is being gathered from private donors and the estate’s endowment, with the Glen Foerd Conservation Corporation actively seeking additional contributions.
Cescaphe’s involvement in this project reflects a commitment to not only revitalize Glen Foerd but also to enhance its role as a cultural destination. By working in partnership with Glen Foerd’s Executive Director Ross Mitchell, Cescaphe aims to preserve this historic site while expanding educational programs focused on art, culture, and the environment.
The company has witnessed considerable success in the Philadelphia wedding scene, hosting over 750 weddings in 2023 alone. Cescaphe’s portfolio includes various iconic venues across the city, including the Water Works and The Lucy, and more recently, The Switch House located in the former Peco power plant. Additionally, the company’s founder, Joe Volpe, is exploring opportunities in the winery business with plans to open the Blind Fox Vineyard in Bucks County, independent of Cescaphe’s wedding services.
As Glen Foerd prepares for its transformation, community members and potential couples looking for a memorable wedding venue can look forward to what promises to be a beautifully restored estate that combines history with modern luxury.
