Cherry Hill Mall mandates that minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on Saturday nights.

Cherry Hill Mall, a prominent shopping destination in New Jersey, has enacted a new Parental Supervision Policy that mandates minors to be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 21 or older when visiting the mall on Saturday evenings. This policy, which took effect over the weekend, specifically applies to individuals under the age of 18 starting at 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The initiative is designed to foster a safe environment for all patrons, aligning with similar measures adopted by other regional malls, according to mall officials.

The policy encompasses the entire mall property, including parking lots, garages, and connecting walkways. However, stores that feature exterior entrances are exempt from this requirement. To enforce this policy, mall security personnel will be present starting at the designated hour and may request proof of age from visitors. Under the new rules, one adult can accompany up to four minors, provided at least one of them is their child.

Teenagers who are employed at the mall are not subject to the new requirements. They may enter the premises without a supervising adult, although they must provide proof of employment. Additionally, these young workers are expected to proceed directly to their workplace and leave the mall immediately after their shifts if they conclude after 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Unaccompanied minors found within the mall during enforcement hours will be asked to exit the premises. Those who refuse to comply may face charges of trespassing. This decision follows a recent incident at Cherry Hill Mall where two individuals sustained minor injuries during a confrontation involving several young shoppers, many of whom were not residents of the area.

The implementation of the Parental Supervision Policy underscores the mall’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its patrons and is part of a broader trend among shopping centers in New Jersey. Other malls, including Deptford Mall, Willow Grove Park Mall, and the Fashion District, have adopted similar restrictions in recent years to address security concerns and enhance the shopping experience for families.

By prioritizing safety and fostering responsible shopping habits among younger visitors, Cherry Hill Mall aims to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages community engagement and enjoyable experiences for all.
