Connecticut man arrested for following woman home and stealing her car twice, according to police reports.
A recent incident in Waterbury, Connecticut, has resulted in the arrest of a man for a series of car thefts, including a brazen carjacking that occurred weeks apart. According to police reports, Aaron Rodriguez De Los Santos, a 26-year-old resident of Waterbury, initially followed a woman to her home on November 23, 2025. It was during this encounter that he forcefully pushed her, stole her key fob, and drove off in her 2015 Honda Civic.
Law enforcement officials later recovered the stolen vehicle and returned it to its rightful owner. However, De Los Santos retained the key fob he had taken, which enabled him to commit a subsequent theft. On December 3, 2025, he once again used the key fob to steal the same Honda Civic from the woman, who had believed she was safe with her vehicle returned.
The second theft was short-lived. Just hours after the theft occurred, police found the vehicle parked at a local gas station in Waterbury. Officers apprehended De Los Santos at the scene, where further investigations revealed the presence of illegal substances, including fentanyl and crack cocaine, inside the vehicle.
Rodriguez De Los Santos now faces significant legal repercussions. He has been charged with one count of motor vehicle larceny, as well as two counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Additionally, law enforcement has indicated that further charges related to the initial carjacking are forthcoming.
This troubling sequence of events highlights ongoing concerns about vehicle thefts and related criminal activities in urban areas. As communities work to enhance vehicle security and improve public safety, incidents like this underscore the need for increased vigilance among residents regarding personal safety and property protection. The Waterbury authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter, seeking to ensure that justice is served and that measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The case remains ongoing, and further updates are expected as it progresses through the judicial system.
