During the event, U.S. officials attempted to box in Parias’ vehicle, a Toyota Camry. However, in the ensuing chaos, Parias reportedly drove his car both forward and backward, colliding with two law enforcement vehicles in the process. An acting U.S. Attorney stated that agents made efforts to break the driver’s side window to subdue Parias, but those attempts were unsuccessful. As tensions escalated, Parias’ vehicle began to fishtail, prompting agents to discharge their firearms.
