The incident occurred on July 1, and 63-year-old Virgilio Taveras now faces multiple charges, including rape, child luring, endangerment of the welfare of a child, and sexual abuse, as reported by police on Wednesday.

According to court documents, Taveras approached a 14-year-old boy while driving his gray sedan. As the teen walked along the sidewalk at the intersection of 171st Street and Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, Taveras honked his car horn to get the boy’s attention. He allegedly offered the boy assistance, claiming that his brother owned a construction company and could provide him with work.

After the teenager entered the vehicle, Taveras reportedly made inappropriate comments, asking the boy about his relationship status.
