Eight people shot in South Philadelphia lounge; new details about the incident have been released.
New information regarding a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning outside a lounge in South Philadelphia has emerged. The shooting left eight individuals injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to police reports, the violence erupted at the 7 Elements lounge, located on the second floor of the Dung Phat Plaza shopping center at the intersection of 11th Street and Washington Avenue. The incident reportedly began as a knife fight on the balcony of the establishment, after which three men, identified as a security guard and two unidentified individuals, opened fire. The chaos unfolded shortly before 4 a.m., with one of the unknown men shooting into a crowd as patrons attempted to flee the scene.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the security guard and the second unidentified man pursued the shooter, discharging their weapons as the initial assailant escaped in a white Mercedes. As the suspect fled, a stray bullet struck a 25-year-old woman in the leg, leading to her hospitalization. Fortunately, all victims have been reported to be in stable condition. However, as of this report, no arrests have been made, and it remains unclear if the security guard will face charges for his involvement.
In response to the shooting, police and representatives from the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections swiftly revoked the lounge’s operating license, resulting in its closure. This incident adds to a pattern of violence over the holiday weekend in Philadelphia.
In a separate incident the following morning, gunfire erupted during a fistfight among a large gathering of young people in a North Philadelphia housing complex. This incident, which occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday on the 2200 block of Edgley Street, left three individuals injured, including a man who was shot in the back and thigh. Police responded to a chaotic scene, locating victims who were later transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Additionally, shortly after this shooting, an off-duty police officer was struck by a vehicle with a visible bullet hole in its windshield. The driver fled the scene, while the officer is reported to be in stable condition.
Police are also investigating a domestic incident in West Philadelphia involving a woman who allegedly shot at her friend’s boyfriend. This event, along with several stabbings reported in the Tioga and Kensington neighborhoods, contributes to an ongoing concern regarding violence in the city.
Current statistics reveal that shooting incidents in Philadelphia remain relatively consistent with the previous year, even as the overall homicide rate continues to decline. As of Saturday, 116 individuals have been killed in Philadelphia in 2025, down from 133 at the same time last year. Nonfatal shootings have also seen a slight increase, with 1,407 recorded so far this year compared to 1,385 a year ago. This uptick in gun violence remains a focal point for law enforcement and community leaders alike, as efforts continue to address these pressing issues.
