Elderly man swindled out of bank card at Queens ATM, leading to ,800 in unauthorized charges.

Authorities in Queens are actively pursuing three male suspects involved in a deceptive scheme that targeted an 84-year-old man, resulting in significant financial loss. The incident, which occurred on June 26 at approximately 10 a.m., took place inside a Chase bank branch situated at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and 60th Street in the Sunnyside Gardens area.

According to law enforcement reports, the elderly victim was approached by one of the suspects, who tapped him on the shoulder in a calculated effort to distract him. While the victim’s attention was diverted, an accomplice seized the opportunity to stealthily replace the victim’s bank card with a different card at the ATM. This carefully orchestrated maneuver allowed the suspects to effectively carry out their plan without immediate detection.

Once the card was illicitly replaced, the two primary robbers exited the bank, handing over the victim’s card to a third individual, who was reportedly waiting outside the establishment. Subsequently, the victim discovered unauthorized transactions totaling approximately ,800 on his account, prompting him to report the incident to the police.

Currently, the three suspects remain at large. Descriptions provided by witnesses indicate that one individual was dressed in a dark-colored long-sleeve shirt and wore glasses. Another suspect was spotted wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and a black hat, while the third wore a white long-sleeve shirt paired with blue shorts, white sneakers, and a white hat.
