Former New York prison guard sentenced for admitting to 128 counts of child pornography offenses.
A former corrections officer from Valley Cottage, New York, has been sentenced to one to three years in state prison following a guilty plea to an extensive array of sex crimes involving minors. Daniel Dworkin, 45, faced the charge of uploading numerous images and videos that depicted sexual performances by girls under the age of 16 to his Google Drive. This activity took place between February and June 2024, as reported by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
Dworkin’s arrest occurred in November 2025 while he was en route to his position at the Rockland County Jail. Initially pleading not guilty, the veteran officer—who dedicated 18 years to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office—later entered a guilty plea to a comprehensive indictment. This included 64 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and an additional 64 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.
In a statement following the sentencing, District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome. He stated that the plea arrangement did not meet the expectations of the prosecution, which had sought a more severe sentence of up to seven years. Walsh emphasized that this sentence does not adequately hold Dworkin accountable for his crimes, labeling him a predator.
On Tuesday, Dworkin received his official sentence in Rockland County Court. In addition to his prison term, he will be mandated to register as a sex offender upon his release, a legal requirement aimed at public safety.
