Former Suffolk County official receives 2-year sentence for running a brothel.

A former police officer from Long Island has been sentenced to two years in prison for promoting prostitution after admitting to managing a brothel in Suffolk County. George Trimigliozzi, 56, of Islip, served as the co-manager of the operation, which was known as the American Girls Spa and located on Sunrise Highway, between October 2019 and March 2021. This information was disclosed by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Trimigliozzi, who had an 18-year tenure with the Suffolk County Police Department, was implicated alongside co-defendant Steven Arey, a 26-year veteran of the Islip School District. Both individuals were identified by investigators as part of a “criminal enterprise that profited from the systematic promotion of prostitution in Suffolk County.”

In September 2025, Trimigliozzi pleaded guilty to charges of promoting prostitution and official misconduct. Evidence presented in court indicated that he neglected his police responsibilities on March 19, 2021, when he responded to a robbery at his brothel. He drove nearly 90 miles per hour in his patrol car, fully aware that the Suffolk County Police Department had not authorized him to leave his post for such a response.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney expressed the severity of the situation, stating that it is particularly egregious when a sworn officer abandons their duty to engage in criminal conduct. He emphasized that Trimigliozzi’s actions constituted a violation of public trust, as he chose to manage a brothel rather than uphold the law.

Additionally, two other individuals involved in the criminal organization have also pleaded guilty. Frank Saggio, 61, who was identified as the leader of the enterprise, and his girlfriend Dana Ciardullo, 33, who managed another location known as Tunnel of Love in West Babylon. Saggio’s sentencing is pending, but he has agreed to forfeit nearly .9 million as part of his plea agreement. Ciardullo is scheduled for sentencing on December 18.

Arey, who has not entered a guilty plea, faces serious charges including enterprise corruption and 27 counts of promoting prostitution. His case remains unresolved and is still pending in the court system. The case highlights serious allegations of misconduct within law enforcement and the challenges faced in rooting out corruption in the community.
