Four people, including an infant, have died in a murder-suicide incident in Ohio.
In a tragic incident that has shaken the small community of Tiffin, Ohio, a man reportedly shot and killed three individuals, including two young children, before turning the gun on himself. The violence erupted during what authorities described as a domestic dispute as the children’s mother attempted to leave their home.
Local law enforcement responded to emergency calls regarding gunfire at a residence on the 100 block of Huss Street around 6:25 PM on a Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male and two young boys suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Additionally, a female adult in the home was discovered physically unharmed but in a state of shock and trauma.
The details surrounding the incident indicate that the gunfire began while the mother was in the process of moving her belongings out of the residence due to ongoing domestic issues. According to police, the father of the 7-year-old boy, Dustin Willey, was on-site to assist her during this difficult transition.
Both Willey and a 7-month-old infant were pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, as confirmed by the Seneca County Coroner’s Office. The 7-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after arrival due to a gunshot wound to the head.
In what investigators are treating as a murder-suicide, police discovered another male near the residence who appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was later identified as Ryan Eagon, the woman’s husband and the father of the infant victim. Eagon was thought to have been out of town for work when arrangements for the move were made, suggesting a sudden and tragic escalation of an already volatile domestic situation.
Authorities have stated that the ongoing investigation by the Tiffin Police Department will focus on the specific circumstances leading up to this devastating act. The impact of this incident reverberates beyond the immediate victims, leaving a community grappling with the profound consequences of domestic violence and loss. As Tiffin mourns, this tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for continued dialogue and action surrounding mental health and domestic issues.
