Four women arrested for a burglary spree in Nassau County.

Four Romanian women have been apprehended and charged in connection with a series of seven burglaries that took place across Nassau County on Long Island, according to a statement released by local authorities on Wednesday. The suspects, identified as Cornella Chiciu, 34; Cristina Tanasie, 25; Ioana Miclescu, 21; and Alina Antonescu, 36, were arrested on Tuesday without incident.

The women are believed to be linked to a coordinated series of burglaries that occurred in three separate incidents throughout March. The first two break-ins were reported on March 14 in Elmont, followed by three additional incidents on March 17, which occurred in Bethpage and East Meadow. The final incidents took place on the morning of the recent arrest in Levittown and Plainview, as indicated by the police report.

Although investigators have not released specific details regarding the items taken from the residences, they noted that the suspects made off with a significant quantity of cash and various personal belongings. The police emphasized the swift nature of the crimes, which appeared to be part of an organized effort, underscoring the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing such burglary rings.

Chiciu faces seven counts of second-degree burglary, while her co-defendants—Tanasie, Miclescu, and Antonescu—each face two counts of the same charge. The severity of the charges varies due to the amount involved and the role each suspect played in the criminal activities.

The investigation into these burglaries extended beyond Nassau County, drawing assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Chicago Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This collaboration highlights the complexity and interstate implications of such criminal cases, particularly involving individuals from abroad.

The recent string of burglaries in Nassau County has raised alarms among local residents and authorities. As this case unfolds, the focus will remain on ensuring that the properties involved are restored to their rightful state and that justice is served to prevent further occurrences of similar crimes in the community.
